Lessons in Gratitude Day 217

Tonight I want to take a moments to express my gratitude to those who regularly read this blog. You are a big reason why I keep writing here each night, even when I’m plum wore out, like I am tonight. I have been a writer since I was a child. This has shown up in one form or another–poetry, books, stories, when I was younger, then songs, papers, reports, dissertations, articles, short stories, children’s books, and partially completed novels have all been part of my writing life. Not to mention letters, e-mails, texts and other forms of personal communication. We writers would of course be nowhere if someone wasn’t at the other end reading our words. I am grateful for each person who has taken time–even these few moments–to read this blog. When the book comes out later this year, I hope you’ll read that too!

It’s hard to believe that today is the first of February. The month of January blew by and I’ve no reason to believe that February won’t do the same. This means I’d better kick it up a gear or two. I have a lot of thinking, planning and a whole lot more doing/action-taking to accomplish. Of course there are the practical things like completing my income tax returns. Ever since I started doing them myself (just since I moved out to California six years ago) I keep thinking they’ll get easier, but I am still met with that uneasy feeling that I’m missing a whole lot of deductions that I could be taking and making other errors. But for 2011 I will once again be my own tax preparer. I also have other practical matters to attend to along with solidifying my life purpose and taking some steps toward making it real. I am, of course, still sorting out my life purpose, but I am much closer than I was a year ago. So, this is progress. As I’m figuring that out, I’m certain that my next vocation will emerge from these deliberations. I am looking for the alignment between my life purpose and my work to occur in the very near future. In the event things don’t line right up right away I’m also developing contingency plans for what’s next. Stay tuned. As it happens I am likely to report some parts of it in this blog.

I’m going to end early tonight. I want to spend a little time with my guitar this evening making sweet music. It’s a good thing to do before retiring for the evening. I thank you for reading and walking along with me on this journey. May we live with joy, ease, and wellbeing. Let it be so!
